Since April 29th, 2019, the federal government of Nigeria has rolled out the Enhanced E-Passport. Moreover, the Nigerian government integrated the NIN into the e-passport. To get an e-passport, you need your National Identity Number (NIN).

Categories of E-Passport:

Please see the list below for the categories where the new enhanced e-Passport is available.

These categories apply to both fresh passports and re-issuance of passports. Suppose if you want to apply for re-issuance or passport renewal, the below types are available to you.

For Adults (18 and above):

If you are above 18 years, you have three options for a passport.

  • 5-year Validity Passport: In this category, either you can apply for 32 pages passport with a five-year validity period or 64 pages passport with a five-year validity period.
  • 10-year Validity Passport: If you want a ten-year validity passport, you can apply for 64 pages passport.

In short, you can get 5-year validity with 32 pages or 10-year validity with 32 or 64-pages passport.

For Minors:

In the case of a minor, only two options are available,

  • 32 pages passport with a five-year validity period, Or
  • 64 pages passport with the same five-year validity period.

Minors can apply for either a 32 or 64-pages passport. Each passport has the same validity period of five years. A Ten-year validity passport is not available for minors who are less than 18 years of age.

Fresh E-passport Fee Structure for Adults:

Nigeria government issues 32 pages official passport with a five-year validity period. The official Nigerian passport fee is 15,000.00 Naira. Official Nigeria passport is not available to all Nigeria Citizens. The Federal government of Nigeria issues official passports to those who are in official government duties.

Fresh E-passport Fee Structure for Minors:

Minors can apply for any one of the two types. They can either apply for 32 pages passport with a five-year validity period or 64 pages passport with the same five-year validity period. A minor passport costs the same as an adult passport.

Nigerian Passport Renewal Fee:

To apply for a Nigeria Passport renewal, you need to pay the below-mentioned amount in the table. Under two conditions, you can apply for a Nigeria passport renewal.

  • First, if your passport is currently expired.
  • Second, if your passport is currently not expired but going to expire soon.

Sometimes even if your passport has more than six months validity period, you may need a new passport. Certain countries demand six month passport validity during your stay in that country.

Did you change your name recently as a result of your marital status? If yes, you must also change your name on your passport.
