Introduction:

For all the various forms of Thai visas available, it might often feel as if it might be easier to figure out how to go to the moon than to find-out the which one is right for you. That’s not straight-forward, that’s for certain. There are a variety of different visas to remember, so the Click2visas site has gathered up-to-date visa details for the most popular visa forms to eliminate the possibility of revocation and the humiliation of discussing your plight when you end up back in your home country. Why do you need Thai visas?

  • What you need to do is apply for the right one after reading this article, which you will be able to do.

Describe the Thai visa types for USA citizens?

Yes, eight forms of Thai visas exist. As follows,

1.      Tourist visa:

You’re looking for a place for a long spring break? In exchange for good memories and a boatload of candid selfies, are you taking the gap year to blow up all of your money? Well, Thailand is undeniably one of the most stunning destinations in your quest for the ideal holiday. Don’t let the thought of securing a visitor visa scare you if this is the case. Although it may be easier to easily fly to another city in your own country of origin, it is well worth your time to see this beautiful country to find out the tourist visa Thailand USA. Often, you do not require a visa to enter the country if you stay for less than 30 days.

Tourist visa requirement for Thailand:

  • You would need to have a passport of at least six months of validity left to apply.
  • You must have two passport images, too.
  • You must have booked your flights already, as a copy of your round trip tickets or checked itinerary is required.
  • You should have evidence that you have sufficient funds to travel during the first instance (20,000 Baht each person and 40,000 Baht per family).

There are two types of tourist visa Thai:

1. Tourist (validity of 3 month visa Thailand / up to 60 days/single)

This is a single entry visa, which in Thailand gives you up to 60 days.

2. Tourist (validity of Thailand 6 month visa / up to 60 days / Multiple Entries)

This choice grants you a 6-month visa, which allows you to stay for several entries for 60 days at a time. But you have to leave after 60 days, but then you can re-enter and trigger for another 60 days.

Process for Applications:

  • As there are few conditions, securing a visitor visa is the least difficult visa to obtain.
  • You are applying for a tourist visa from the Thai Embassy or Thai Consulate in your home country.
  • You will stretch your tourist visa by 30 days if you require more time in Thailand (before it expires). For each extension, there is a 1.900 Baht tax.
  • It is at the absolute discretion of the Immigration Official to prolong the stay and adjust a specific form of visa.
  • I have detailed the requirements of the Thai embassy in the UK for securing a tourist visa. To see how these criteria vary at all, you can search for your home country’s Thai embassy website. In my experience, the only distinction is typically the balance needed for the bank account to be shown.
  • It should also be remembered that single entry tourist visa Thailand from neighboring countries such as Laos or Cambodia are easy to obtain from Thailand. It is very normal for individuals to arrive on a 30-day extension standard in Thailand and then determine that they want to stay longer.
  • They then hold a passport to one of the neighboring countries across the border and visit the Thai embassy to receive a visitor visa.

Additional documents for Thai multiple entry visa requirements:

  • The applicant’s initial bank account with a balance of at least £ 5,000 (for 6 months) or a print with the bank’s official stamp.
  • A letter was sent to the Royal Thai Embassy from the applicant’s employer in the UK or Ireland.
  • Your self-assessment and a business registration form are needed if you are self-employed.
  • A photocopy of the confirmed air ticket to Thailand for return.
  • A photocopy of Thailand’s verified hotel reservation.

Advantages of a tourist visa:

  • In the majority of instances, a single entry is sufficient. However, a six-month visa is a bonus option for those who wish to stay 6 months at a time here (leaving after 60 days).
  • The value of joining the nation with this visa is that on entry, you will have 60 days instead of the normal 30.

2.      Business or Work visa:

As a second language, many people come to Thailand to teach English. Others are moved to operate here, to invest, and also to do foreign business. Before getting to the source of the next major import commodity from Thailand, the B visa procedure is fairly innocuous and, if handled correctly, can be just another quick tick off the to-do list.

Business visa requirements for Thailand:

  • Since there is no fixed business visa, but a category (B) for which you have to send documents based on the business-related purpose you need this sort of visa, this is a little difficult to stipulate.
  • You need two passport images, a medical card, a valid passport, a letter of job, a certificate of degree, and proof of 20,000 Baht funds for most work-related style visas (per person).

Thai Work visa:

  • Remember that this visa is not a license for operation. Within Thailand, and usually, by the boss, a work permit is issued separately.
  • If you have to work in Thailand, you may apply for an initial 90-day Non-Immigrant B Visa from your home country under the Job Group.
  • During the first 90 days of your passport, the work permit request then takes effect. If a valid work permit has been issued, the applicant then applies to Thailand for a 1-year non-immigrant B visa.
  • Reporting to every Thai Immigration Office for 90 days is required if you have a work permit. You will also request a re-entry permit if you intend to travel outside the country. The good news is that in Thailand this visa may be renewed.

Process for Applications:

  • The B visa must be issued in your home country, as with all visa forms (or a country other than Thailand). Single-entry and multiple-entry visas are initially available for 3 months, but multiple-entry visas are valid for 1 year (leave every 90 days).
  • Your passport shall be valid for a single entry for at least six months or longer, and your passport must be valid for 18 months or more for multiple entries.

Advantages of Thai Business visa and Work visa:

  • On a multiple-entries B visa, you are allowed to spend 90 days at a time in Thailand. If applicable, you can also open a bank account as well as obtain a work permit.
  • The B visa includes the following categories of work-related activities: business results, work, business conferences, scuba diving, coaching, kickboxing (Muay Thai), and massage classes.
  • It is ideal for business prospecting in Thailand and meeting with Thai firms or holding seminars.

3.      The Retirement (O-A) visa:

What better place to retirement than on the coastline of the world-famous beaches of Thailand or on the peaceful Nakorn Nowhere hills?

The year-long warm climate in Thailand makes it a perfect place to put your feet up and just enjoy a slower speed of retirement, or not, as the case may be.

The retirement visa (which is currently legally referred to as an extension of stay dependent on retirement when completed within Thailand) is a tad laborious to procure, and you will need to apply to immigration every 90 days but this can now be done online when it works!

I can’t see that every three months people are not necessarily expected to pop down and get stamped in at a local police department or immigration office. It will take five minutes and be finished at the convenience of everyone.

Retirement visa requirement for Thailand:

  • Often referred to as the Non-Immigrant “O-A,” or long stay visa is the retirement visa. You must be at least 50 years of age, and you must have a clear criminal past.
  • You must have Baht 800,000 in a Thai bank account two months prior to the visa, or a monthly salary or pension of 65,000 Baht, or a sum of 800,000 Baht by a combination of a bank deposit and a year-round income or pension.
  • Notice that you have to hold the 800,000 Baht in your Thai bank account for three months from March 1, 2019, until you apply for your extension. And you have to keep a minimum of 400,000 Baht in the same account after those three months.
  • You need to write to the immigration office every 90 days about your current address in Thailand. If you do not want to contact the immigration office directly or electronically, this may be accomplished by mail. An officer will do this for you with the jurisdiction of a judge, too.

Process for Applications:

  • Thai retirement visa applications may be accepted either in your country of origin or in Thailand. In reality, applying in Thailand is simpler because you avoid having to get a medical check and a police check.
  • The fastest way to go is first to apply for a 90-day Non-Immigrant O visa from your home country’s Thai embassy or consulate.
  • If you have finished the last 30 days of this visa, you can apply for your retirement-based stay extension.
  • Note that you must have a revised bank book and a letter from the bank claiming that the 800,000 Baht was deposited in the account from an overseas source for no less than 2 months to endorse your case.
  • Or you’ll need a letter from your embassy in Thailand confirming your monthly salary if you show an income of 65,000 Baht.
  • If the embassy does not provide revenue letters (at the time of writing only the UK and US embassies), you would need to have a 12-month history of bank statements indicating a monthly deposit of 65,000 Baht into a Thai bank account.
  • If you have only been in a Thailand for a few months, this will be troublesome because if your embassy does not send income letters, you will have to lower the lump sum of 800,000 Baht on a Thai bank account road.

The Advantages of a Retirement visa:

  • You will stay with this visa for up to one year, as well as renew (extend, technically) the visa from inside Thailand every year. That means there’s no reason for you to quit and do those dreadful visa runs!

4.      The Marriage visa – Based on (Non-Immigrant-O visa)

Web, on holiday, at the Khao San Road bar: it doesn’t matter where you fall in love, it only matters what you’ve achieved.

Many of you may find yourself lucky enough to find one and tie the knot, and you may want to dream about going to Thailand on a marriage visa if Skype and Facebook messenger isn’t enough to keep the relationship alive.

The marriage visa is a tad difficult to grasp in that it is simply legally regarded as a 1-year marriage-based extension of stay.

In a nutshell, in your home country, you apply for a Thai visa, then go to Thailand and extend the visa for a year so that you do not have to leave the country.

Here, there are two possibilities:

  1. Request for a visa for a 90-day Non-Immigrant O (single entry). This can be extended to Thailand, such as Laos, in your home nation or a neighboring country.
  2. Request for a 1-year visa for non-immigrants O (multiple entries). Only from your home country/country of residence can you get this.
  3. The distinction between these two visas is that a single entrance is the first option and multiple entrances are the second option. The second option is available for 1 year, but in 90-day sections, so you must leave before 90 days is up and re-enter to activate 90 days more.
  4. You will do that on the grounds of being married to a Thai national as you apply for a visa, so you will need to request your marriage certificate and a copy of your wife’s ID with your application.
  5. Any alternative would allow you to extend your visa without having to leave and remain in the country. This is considered a marriage-based stay extension, also referred to as a ‘marriage visa’.

Marriage visa required for Thailand:

  • You have to be married to a Thai national and have a clean criminal record to prolong your stay for one year

.

  • In a Thai bank account for 60 or more days before applying a monthly earnings of 40,000 baht, or 400,000 baht.
  • By means of a letter from your consulate or confirmation of your 400,000 Baht deposit by way of an up-to-date bank book and a letter from the bank, you would need to have documentation of your revenue.
  • On an annual basis, this visa is permanent (extendable) and this phase can be completed within Thailand. The renewal (extension) specifications are similar. You must also report your current address to the closest immigration office every 90 days.
  • Remember that you will require a re-entry permit to do so if you wish to fly outside Thailand after having received your retirement visa. Your passport will be revoked when you leave the country if you don’t have one.
  • Before leaving the country, you can apply for a re-entry visa at an immigration office or at an international airport. Note that this would not refer to a multiple entry visa for 1 year but to a visa that has been extended for a total of 12 months in Thailand.

Information to know:

  • The UK and US embassies have no longer given income letters to their residents as of January 2019. This means that for 60+ days before applying, citizens of these two countries would need to go down the lump sum path of getting 400,000 Baht in a Thai bank account.
  • You could use the income path for the second year renewal, provided you can show statements showing that 40,000 Baht was paid into your Thai bank account every month for 12 months in a row.

Process of Applications:

  • It is fairly easy to obtain a Non-Immigrant O Visa dependent on marriage. Only apply within your home country at a Thai embassy or consulate by submitting the following:
  • A copy and translation of your certificate of marriage
  • A copy of a passport or an ID card from your partner.
  • Bank statements for 3 months with monthly revenue of more than £ 1,500 Baht (amount based on requirements of London Thai Embassy).

Marriage visa Entry requirements for Thailand:

  • You can fly to Thailand and activate the visa upon entry until you have the Non-Immigrant O Multiple Entry Visa or 90-day Non-Immigrant Visa.
  • During the last 30-days of the 90-day permit to live, the 1-year extension can be applied for and, providing you satisfy the financial criteria, the approval time typically takes around one month.
  • Notice that if you have a multiple Non-Immigrant O Visa entry, if you don’t want to, You do not have to extend the 1-year extension. Every 90 days you should only leave the country and re-enter to cause another 90 days.

The Advantages of Marriage visa:

  • You will stay in Thailand for a whole year without ever having to leave the country if you have a marriage visa (extended Non-Immigrant O visa, dependent on marriage).
  • If you are able to receive a legitimate Thai work permit to go along with the marriage visa, you are also permitted to work.
  • Finally, if you do not apply to renew your visa for a year by complying with the above financial conditions, you will still extend your visa for another 60 days, making it last for 5 months.

5.      The Education visa (1-year Non-Immigrant ED visa):

Believe it or not, over the years, this was the most illegally-exploited visa. As it is called, the ED visa has been a common way to stay in Thailand for a long time with limited financial commitment: simply sign up with a language school to study Thai for a year, and voila, you get an educational visa.

Of course, people were not really studying Thai, and the Thai government started requiring immigration officers after several years to perform random simple Thai regulations on those who had to learn the language for a few years.

Needless to say, it was canceled for those who were unable to answer very simple questions.

When you apply for an ED visa, please ensure you go to at least one lesson a week.

Education visa required for Thailand for us citizens:

  • In your home country or from within Thailand, you may apply for an Ed Visa. Many persons come in on a visitor visa and then find a school to register for. The school then properly figures out the Ministry of Education’s paperwork.
  • If you are admitted, as you would most likely be, you will have to leave Thailand to apply to either the Thai embassy or consulate outside Thailand for a Non-Immigrant ED visa. To do this, most individuals jump over to Laos.
  • A 1-year Non-Immigrant Education visa may be applied for by persons of any nationality. While citizens must apply in their own country from the following countries: Bangladesh, China, India, Iran, Sri Lanka, and Middle Eastern countries-don’t ask me why!
  • You would require the usual suspects from inside your own country, such as a passport or travel permit with a validity of not less than six months and a recent photograph of 4 x 6 cm.
  • In addition, you may need a letter of acceptance from the language school you want to study at, and you will need an official letter from the Ministry of Education of Thailand or other similar sub-authorities for those who wish to study at a private university, which is simply an acknowledgment of your registration and a copy of your registration certificate.
  • Notice that there is somewhat different documentation needed for internships and other more specialized fields of research.

Process of Application:

  • In fact, applying for an education visa within Thailand is much simpler because the language schools are crying out for applicants and are thus prepared to do all the legwork needed to sign you up.
  • To get your ED visa, the only issue has to travel to Laos or some other country in the nearby area. But as I’m sure you can say, that’s why the ED visa is such a popular “Oh, my Goodness, I don’t want to go back home” route. “How can I stay for longer” sort of traveler here.
  • You will be allowed to stay for 90 days upon landing back in Thailand. You will prolong your stay every 90 days at the Bangkok Immigration Office for the remainder of the course until you have the school paperwork (up to a maximum of 3 years). For an extension, the charge is 1,900 Baht.
  • Remember that if you have a single ED visa for admission, you have to get a re-entry permit to leave and come back anytime you want to fly overseas. Before you depart, this can easily be achieved at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
  • You should apply for a visa delay so that the time of your leave is not counted in your visa duration. You need the following to get a re-entry permit:
  • A photocopy of the passport
  • One passport photo measuring 4 x 6 cm
  • 1,000 Baht single-entry fee and 3,800 Baht multiple-entry fee

Advantages of Education visa:

  • You remain in Thailand on a continuing basis and do not have to depart every 90 days, as you will on any other Non-Immigrant O visas (where the financial condition has not been fulfilled for extension).
  • You do, however, need to report every 90 days to immigration to let them know your address. Up to 7 days before to the due date, you will do this.
  • If they wish to travel overseas, single entry ED visa holders still need to get a re-entry permit, so get multiple entries from the beginning.

6.      The Elite visa:

A multiple entry visa, which should be valid for five years, and continuous as long as membership is valid, is the Thailand Elite Visa. You will be given a 1-year stay with the simple kit beginning at a nice 500,000 Baht, with an extension available at the end of the year.

Elite visas required for Thailand:

  • The only condition is that the money is yours. Yes, except so you’re not a suspected terrorist or a world barred.

Advantages of Elite visa:

  • You’re not going to have to do visa runs, so you’re going to need to do 90-day address filing. Your Thailand Elite personal liaison office will do this for you, apparently, without tension.
  • Other advantages include airport concierge service (welcoming you and giving you a limo to your hotel), spa services, a dental checkup, bargain shopping, cheaper Bangkok Bank banking, and many other items you could not need.
