The Indian government has declared income tax return filing compulsory for big spenders even when their taxable earning is under the threshold exemption restrict of five (₹5) lakh.
Those ordered to file returns include individuals spending more than two (₹2) lakh on a foreign journey or depositing one (₹1) crore in a year in their bank account or paying electricity charge of more than one (₹1) lakh in a year.

So, any individual who has in the last year “has incurred pay of an amount or total of the amounts exceeding two (₹2) lakh for himself or other individuals for a trip to a foreign nation.”
