The CDC has issued a Level 3 Travel Alert Notice for Malaysia due to COVID-19. This indicates that the country has a high level of COVID-19. There are restrictions in place for U.S. citizens and residents entering Malaysia.
This travel ban does not apply to Citizens of Malaysia, travellers with approval for diplomatic travel, Students with a written approval letter from immigration, and travellers with MTP.

Travel Details
Currently, visitors are not allowed to enter Malaysia. Malaysian nationals and travellers with specific purposes are only allowed to enter Malaysia with some travel restrictions.
Before entering Malaysia, foreign travellers must either possess specific valid long-term travel passes or have formal written approval from the Malaysian government through the My Travel Pass programme
Please remember that Malaysia entry requirements may differ for preapproved participants in the Langkawi Island International Tourism Pilot Project, Short-Term Business Travelers and the Singapore Vaccinated Travel Lane.
Covid Vaccine for Travel
All airline Travellers from the U.S. ages two years and above, regardless of vaccination status, must provide a COVID-19 negative PCR test. That too taken within two calendar days of travel.
Alternatively, travellers can submit documentation from a licensed health care provider that they have recovered from COVID-19 within the previous 90 days.
Mandatory Covid Test
All travellers arriving at Kuala Lumpur International Airport must pay for their mandatory arrival COVID-19 test in advance via a website designated by the Malaysian government (https://safetravel.myeg.com.my/).
After payment, you will be given a Q.R. code, which must be displayed on your mobile phone when you arrive to be tested. The COVID-19 testing fee is no longer payable in person at the airport using a credit or debit card.

Quarantine details
All visitors must be quarantined at a facility designated by the Malaysian government. The traveller is responsible for the entire cost of quarantine.
All travellers arriving in Malaysia must quarantine at the assigned quarantine location for 7 days (for fully vaccinated travellers) or 10 days (for unvaccinated or partially vaccinated travellers).
After that, travellers should undergo a second COVID sample screening on the fifth (for fully vaccinated) or the eighth day (unvaccinated or partially vaccinated).
Covid Test at Airport
All visitors must be tested for COVID-19 at the airport. The traveller is responsible for the entire cost of testing.
‘MySejahtera’ Form
All Travellers to Malaysia must download the ‘MySejahtera’ application and wear a wristband or digital tracker to be identified and monitored by authorities.

Travel Restrictions
All U.S. visitors who have been in Malaysia can travel back to the U.S.
With certain exceptions, the Presidential Proclamation prohibits noncitizens from entering the United States as immigrants or nonimmigrants if they were physically present in one of the countries within the 14 days before they enter the U.S.
Mandatory Covid test
All international airline passengers ages two years and older flying to the United States, regardless of vaccination status or citizenship, must present a negative COVID-19 viral test taken within one calendar day of travel. Alternatively, travellers to the U.S. may provide a certificate from a licenced health care provider that they have recovered from the COVID-19 virus within the previous 90 days.

Mandatory Quarantine and Testing
All Travelers:
- 3–5 days after your trip, get a COVID-19 viral test.
- Self-monitor for any COVID-19 indication; isolate and get the test in nearby hospitals if symptoms appear.
- After your trip, make sure to follow all state and local recommendations or requirements.
Not Fully Vaccinated:
In addition to the recommendations mentioned above, not fully vaccinated travellers should follow,
- Stay at home and self-quarantine for a full 7 days after returning from your trip, even if you test negative after 3–5 days.
- If you are not tested for COVID, you should return home and self-quarantine for 10 days after your trip.
