CDC declared a Level 3 Travel Health announcement for Egypt due to COVID-19, showing a very high level of COVID-19 in the Egypt travel restrictions.
Ensure you are completely vaccinated before traveling to Egypt. Unvaccinated travelers are at increased risk for severe illness. People should avoid unimportant travel to Egypt; if you should travel and have concerns, speak to your physician about Egypt travel.
Passengers should follow suggestions or necessities in Egypt travel restrictions, including wearing a mask and staying six feet apart from others.

Travel Ban
U.S. citizens are allowed to visit Egypt. Please keep in mind that all individuals going to and from Egypt, including U.S. citizens, are bound to the Egyptian Government’s entry and exit regulations.
The U.S. Embassy in Egypt cannot assist U.S. nationals or influence Egyptian authorities’ decisions to permit admission or exit from Egypt.
Covid Vaccine for Travel
The Egyptian Government will also allow U.S. travelers to enter with proof of a COVID-19 vaccination.
The vaccination certificate must be under the rules of the issuing country and include a Q.R. code.
Note: Most U.S. vaccination cards, including those issued by the Centers for Disease Control without the Q.R. code, are not accepted by Egyptian authorities.
Before flying to Egypt, make sure you are completely vaccinated. Non-vaccinated visitors should avoid unnecessary trips to Egypt.
Mandatory Covid Test
All passengers from the U.S. traveling to Egypt must have a negative PCR test certificate for COVID-19 with a Quick Response (Q.R.) code. The test should be obtained at least 72 hours before their flight departure time.

Things to do in Egypt while arriving
Quarantine Required
- Visitors to Sharm El Sheikh are permitted to arrive without a PCR test and then be tested upon arrival. In this case, the tourists must quarantine themselves until the test findings are known and then isolate themselves if the test results are positive.
- Visitors who enter Egypt with a negative PCR test (with Q.R. code) are exempt from quarantine.
- Any traveler who tests positive for COVID-19 in Egypt is subject to a 14-day quarantine.

Movement of Restrictions
Curfew is not implemented in Egypt, and no restriction on interstate and intercity travel.
Large indoor weddings, funerals, festivals, and other large gatherings are postponed indefinitely.
Restaurants and cafes must operate at 70% capacity or less or face a 4,000 LE fine for temporary business closures.

Restrictions traveling from Egypt
Passengers from Egypt who do not have a travel history during the 14 days before their arrival can enter the United States.
Mandatory Covid Test
All airline passengers with two years and older flying to the United States, regardless of vaccination status or citizenship, must present a negative COVID-19 viral test taken within one calendar day of travel.
On the other side, travelers may also provide a valid health care provider document describing that they have completely recovered from COVID-19 in the past 90 days before travel.
Travel Attestation form
Travelers should complete a travel attestation form before arrival. This form will be given by the airline at check-in

Mandatory Quarantine and Testing
All Travelers:
- 3–5 days after your trip, get a COVID-19 viral test.
- Self-monitor for any COVID-19 symptoms. If symptoms appear, isolate and get tested.
- After your trip, make sure to follow all state and local recommendations or requirements.
Not Fully Vaccinated:
In addition to the recommendations mentioned above, not fully vaccinated travelers should follow,
- Stay at home and self-quarantine for a full 7 days after returning from your trip, even if you test negative after 3–5 days.
- If you are not tested for COVID, you should return home and self-quarantine for 10 days after your trip.
