Switzerland Visa for Indian nationals

Types of Switzerland Visa

Tourist visa

Citizens of India who wish to visit Switzerland for tourism must apply for a tourist visa. The following documents are required to obtain approval for a tourist visa to Switzerland:

  1. An Indian passport with 6 months validity from the day the applicant enters the country and any previous passports they may have.
  2. Switzerland Visa application forms of the individual.
  3. Two 35X44mm images of the applicant with a white background and a matt finish.
  4. The cover letter includes details about the applicant.
  5. A document that acts as evidence of travel insurance for the applicant.
  6. A letter stating the candidate’s leave of absence from school/college/company.
  7. Confirmed Air tickets 
  8. The applicant’s last three years income tax statement.
  9. Past six months bank statement of the applicant.
  10. If the candidate is currently employed, they must provide a salary slip from the previous three months.
  11. If the applicant is retired, they must provide proof of retirement or a pension order.
  12. Suppose if the candidate is a student, they must show proof of enrollment.
  13. If the applicant is a minor traveling alone, they need to present a letter of consent signed by both parents or legal guardians, which a public notary must attest.

The time it takes to receive approval for a tourist visa to Switzerland is usually around 15 working days.

Business visa

Anyone traveling to Switzerland for business purposes must apply for a business visa and approve it by the Swiss immigration authority. The following documents are necessary for approval:

  1. An Indian passport with 6 months validity from the day the applicant enters the country and any previous passports they may have.
  2. Switzerland visa application forms
  3. Two 35X44mm images of the applicant with a white backdrop with a Matt finish.
  4. A cover letter with the company letterhead.
  5. Proof of stay in Switzerland like hotel bookings.
  6. Confirmed air tickets
  7. Overseas travel insurance for the applicant.
  8. The applicant’s last three years of income tax returns.
  9. The applicant’s bank statement for the previous six months. The bank account should have enough money in it.
  10. If the candidate is currently employed, they must provide a salary slip from the previous three months.
  11. The applicant must also present business registration documentation from the company for which they are being deployed to Switzerland for business.
  12. A letter from the Swiss government with an invitation.

A request for a business visa in Switzerland usually takes about 15 working days to be processed by the Swiss immigration department.

Family/friend visit visa.

If visiting Switzerland on the invitation of a family member or friend, a family/friend visit visa must be applied for. The Switzerland visa requirements to get a family/friend visit visa approved are as follows:

  1. The applicant’s original passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the applicant arrives in Switzerland.
  2. Switzerland Visa application forms of the applicant.
  3. Two photographs of the applicants.  Photo dimensions are 35X44mm with white background and Matt finish.
  4. The cover letter includes information about the applicant.
  5. Confirmed Air tickets 
  6. A document stating the overseas travel insurance of the applicant.   
  7. The applicant’s income tax return of the previous 3 years.
  8. The applicant’s bank statement for the previous six months. The bank account should have enough money in it.
  9. If the candidate is currently working, they must provide a salary slip from the previous three months.
  10. A copy of the SHOP/MOA/Deed or other proof of firm registration.
  11. The applicant must produce documentation of retirement if they are retired.
  12. If the visitor is a student, then they have to provide a school ID.

The family/friend Switzerland visa usually takes 10-15 days to process.

Employment visa:  

To work and live in Switzerland, then they have to apply for an employment visa. The process and Switzerland visa requirements for an employment visa are:

  1. An applicant’s application for a work visa in Switzerland must be initiated by the organization to employ them in Switzerland. Swiss cantonal authorities will verify the request for an employment visa.
  2. Before the application can be transmitted to the Swiss representation in the applicant’s home country, the cantonal authorities must accept it.
  3. Along with the passport, two clear photos of the applicant, a separate copy of the first and final page of the applicant’s passport, and the visa fee, the document stating the applicant’s approved admission into Switzerland on a work visa is required.
  4. The applicant’s photographs must be 35X45 mm in size and have a white or light-colored background. The image must be taken using a digital camera and be of good quality.
  5. The Swiss cantonal migration authority decides on the candidate’s employment visa approval. This process takes approximately 8-12 weeks, with an additional 5 days if the application is granted.
