Introduction:
Saudi visas are of many varieties. An immediate family member of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s legitimate residents or citizens may be granted a Family Visit Visa or Mofa Family Visit Visa. This is primarily intended for members of the family to be able to visit Saudi Arabia and stay with their family or spend time there. Two kinds of family visit visa KSAare valid, and based on the types of Mofa visas, the validity and duration of stay will get vary.
Duration of stay vs. Validity of family visit visa:
Many visas in the world come with a validity period, and a duration, not just the MOFA family visit visa. Validity determines when you can enter the country. Stay Duration specifies how long you can remain in the country until the validity expires.
Based on the entries, the family visit visa Saudi has two types: Single entry and multiple entries visa. Single entry Mofa family visit visa stay duration is 30 days, and validity is 3 months. Multiple entries family Saudi visit visa validity is 1 year with 90 days stay period.
For instance, on Feb. 2021, let’s assume the visa is stamped. It has different entries and will expire on 21-02-2022.In this case, any day before 21-02-2022, the visa holder can enter. But when you enter, the duration begins. So, if you enter on March 10, 2021, then that is when the count begins.

Since the Saudi embassy is closed for visa stamping in India and many other countries, Dubai has emerged as an alternative to get the stamping completed. You need to have the visit visa approved first and foremost in order to get it done and while applying for a visa, offer Dubai as a choice or destination. Then check whether or not you need a Dubai visa. If you’re an Indian, get a 30-day UAE tourist visa as the quarantine requirement is 14 days, as arrival and departure dates are not counted in the UAE.

- Parents
- Grandchildren
- Father-in-law with mother-in-law
- Wife or husband
- Brothers/Sisters married to Saudis by foreign wives/husbands.
This means that you cannot get a Mofa family visit visa for the following family members.
- The Cousins
- Aunt/uncle
- Nephews/nieces
- The Grandparents
As per the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, visa policy, Grandparents have not come under immediate family members. This family visit visa is most likely another type of visa, but the only difference is that you need to fill in all in Arabic, and you’re not going to need an Iqama.

A very recent announcement was made that you can now apply for your brother, sister, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law family visit visa. So hopefully, the option will be available online soon. Saudi visit visa procedure:
A visa application for a Saudi family visit is a process requiring separate procedures for the family member residing in Saudi Arabia and the applicant residing outside Saudi Arabia. An Iqama holder has to begin the procedure in Saudi Arabia in order to receive a family visit visa. Dependents of the Iqama holder do not themselves apply for a visit visa request using their own Iqamas.
- Applying for a Mofa family visit visa online:
- On behalf of the tourist, the resident Iqama holder must present a family visit visa application. The Iqama should have a validity of at least 4 months for this. The first step in applying for a Saudi family visit visa will be to start the process on the official platform of visa services. - Get Sponsor/Chamber of Commerce approval:
- After the MOFA online visit visa application form has been printed by the Saudi legal resident / Iqama holder, he/she will take it to the sponsor to sign and stamp the paper. The family visa KSAapplication form may also be approved by the Saudi Chamber of Commerce if private company employees need it.
- Visa number/Completed visa form should be sent to
visitors:
- Generally, it takes 7 days or less to reflect the status until signed and stamped by the sponsor. You can use the application number and your ID number to verify the MOFA visa application status.
- If the visa application has been approved, you can give your family member applying for a Family Visit Visa outside Saudi Arabia a scanned copy of the completed, signed, and stamped application form.
- Pay for Saudi family visit visa:
- It is now time for a member of your family to build an account on the Enjazat website. You will get an email to trigger it once you build it. Please make sure to search the folder for Spam. You will need to check for the document using the application number and your passport number on the Enjazat website. Using a Vis/Master credit card, you can pay.
- Send documents to the visa center/Saudi Embassy:
- You may be able to get the visa along with your passport by mail or in person, depending on where you are. Depending on each individual occurrence, Saudi family visit visa processing time will normally take up to 3 days or more.

Requirements to apply for a family visa Saudi Arabia:
The below documents are required to apply for a Saudi Arabia family visit visa,
- Copy of passport of sponsor Iqama holder
- Valid International Passport for the applicant (minimum remaining validity of 7 months)
- Copy of the Iqama or the sponsor’s residence permit
- 4 pictures of passport scale
- Apostilled copy of the applicant’s national ID card
If applying for in-laws:
- Apostilled Supporter Marriage Certificate
- Apostilled copy of the Son/Daughter Certificate of Birth

Visit the website of MOFA SA: https://visa.mofa.gov.sa/.

Can you extend a family visit visa for Saudi Arabia?
Yes, the KSA family visa can be extended. A single-family visa for entry can be extended five times, for a total stay of 180 days in Saudi Arabia. For 90 days at a time, a multiple entry visa may be extended. Notice that only 180 days at a time can be received. You need to quit the KSA after that and re-enter it. But there are chances that the portal extension won’t work, or you’ll get error messages.

The multiple-entry KSA visit visa can be extended after 270 days, that is, after 3 extensions.
Do you need a Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Family Visit Visa health insurance policy?
You do need to have cover, whether it is a single entry or multiple entry Saudi family visit visa. Here, from anywhere you want, you can’t get this protection. A very limited number of insurance firms are approved by the Ministry of the Interior to offer health insurance on a Family Visit Visa.

A Saudi visit visa for a family visit could be rejected for various reasons, such as
- There is no entitlement to the applicant’s profession. Make sure your job title appears on the list of professions entitled to obtain visas in the MOFA list. If you are not, it can only be changed by your sponsor.
- When filling in the application, if you wrote Atheists as your religion.
- Making mistakes with the details of the application.
- Although not official, various professions related to manual labor, such as house drivers, normal workers, etc., often reject their visas. You might be able to change your job title if you have some certificates. Changing careers title will cost an additional 1000 riyal.
