You may depart from any of the Indian Immigration Check Posts (ICPs).

Can the Traveler Apply for the Indian Medical e-Visa While in India?

No. The Indian Medical e-Visa must be obtained prior to your entry into India.

Does the Traveler Need to Carry the Indian Medical e-Visa With Them?

The traveler should carry a copy of the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) with them at the time of entry into India. Confirm that your ETA is shown as “GRANTED” on https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/StatusEnquiry before you try to enter the country. Biometric information of the applicant will be taken by immigration officers on arrival in India.

What Is Required of a Traveller with Two Passports?

Travelers with dual or multiple citizenship must choose which nationality and passport to use on their trip. Travelers of Pakistani origin or who have a Pakistani passport are not eligible for an e-Visa. Travelers who are not Pakistani nationals, but whose parents or grandparents (maternal or paternal) were born in, or were permanently residents in, Pakistan, are also not eligible for an e-Visa. They must apply for a regular visa at Indian Mission.

Can a Traveler Have a Passport of an Eligible Country and Live in Another Country?

Yes. However, travelers applying for an Indian Medical e-Visa must apply using the passport of the eligible country.

Can the Applicant Apply Online If They Do Not Have a Valid Passport, But a Temporary Travel Document?

No. You cannot apply online of you do not have a valid passport from an eligible country with at least 6 months validity. Indian Medical e-Visas are also not available to diplomatic/official passport holders or laissez-passer/international travel document holders.

Does the Applicant Have to Submit a Physical Passport to Receive the Indian Medical e-Visa?

No. The applicant will receive an electronic visa, which does not require anything to be stamped prior to travel. All visas are sent via email. The applicant should print out a copy of their visa before they travel and bring it with them to the port of entry.
