In August 2015, the Ministry of the Interior of the United Arab Emirates unveiled an electronic visa program, streamlining the application process by allowing travelers from around the world to apply for and pay for entry visas. Until traveling, visitors to the United Arab Emirates must obtain a visa unless they come from a visa-free country or one of the countries whose residents are eligible for a visa upon arrival.
