Passport Requirements as per Taiwan travel requirements

All Travelers are expected to have a passport according to Taiwan travel requirements unless otherwise follows:

1. In pink or purple, ‘Entry and Exit Permit’ issued by Chinese Taipei to citizens of the People’s Republic of China.
2. Travelers with a Document of Identity that is issued to Citizens of Singapore
3. Travelers with a Seaman Book issued by any country other than the People’s Republic of China
4. Travelers with Emergency or Temporary passports
5. Travelers with documents issued to refugees and people without nationality
6. If travelers with a ‘Kinderausweis,’ a German children’s identification card issued with a visa. For children under ten years old, the document does not need to contain a child’s photo.

Document Validity:

The passport is the primary Taiwan travel requirement for travelers as per Taiwan Visa Policy. Passports and alternative documents, or either of them, must be valid for six months upon arrival.

1. Travelers with Chinese Taipei passports may enter if such documents are valid on arrival.
2. With passports that are valid on arrival, citizens of the United States of America can enter.
3. Chinese Taipei residents are permitted to enter with travel documents that are valid upon arrival.
4. Citizens of Japan may enter with passports valid for at least three months on arrival.

Additional information for Taiwan travel requirements:

1. Travel documents issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chinese Taipei must indicate the following sentence: ‘The bearer of this passport is permitted to enter the province of Chinese Taipei; passport remains valid.’
2. Passports of Chinese Taipei should have a personal ID number. Travelers residing outside of Chinese Taipei and holding such passports must obtain valid approval from a Chinese Taipei organization.
3. An unexpired visa in an expired passport may be used so long as the traveler carries a second valid passport similar in kind to the expired passport; passports include three types: either regular, official, or diplomatic.

Visa Issuance based on Taiwan visa policy

Before arrival:

A visa may be obtained for any diplomatic mission abroad, if necessary.

A visa may be authenticated at Chung Hwa Travel Service in Hong Kong upon arrival in Chinese Taipei for those entering at:

1. TPE, provided they have passports along with an application for a pre-cleared visa; or
2. Other ports of entry provided they have a visa application form at the Consular Affairs Office before departure.

On arrival:

A visitor visa for no more than 30 days may be issued if necessary to Travelers with Emergency or Temporary Passports at TPE and KHH provided they are citizens of:

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Republic of Ireland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Latvia,  Lithuania, Lichtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Principality of Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Republic of Poland, Portugal, Republic of Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Kingdom of Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.

The stay period begins on the first day after arrival and may not be extended.

• Fees differ by nationality, along with a TWD 800 handling fee.
• Two passport photos must accompany the application form; you can buy photos on arrival for TWD 100.

If required, may give a visitor visa of no more than 30 days to citizens of the United States of America with passports whose validity period is less than six months at TPE and KHH or with Emergency or Temporary passports.

The stay period begins on the first day after arrival and may not be extended as per Taiwan travel requirements.

• A TWD 5,100 visa and handling fee is required. The application form must be accompanied by two passport photos (you can buy photos on arrival for TWD 100).

For no more than 30 days, a visitor visa may be issued, if necessary, at TPE and KHH to Travelers with British passports endorsed ‘British Citizen or with Emergency or Temporary Passports. The stay period begins on the first day after arrival and may not be extended as per Taiwan travel requirements.

• Fees differ by nationality, along with a TWD 800 handling fee.
• Two passport photos must accompany the application form; you can buy photos on arrival for TWD 100. When the traveler arrives at KHH, a ‘Temporary Entry Permit’ will be issued. Still, it must be changed into a visa within three days of arrival, either at the Boca or its Kaohsiung Office.

Otherwise, the traveler will be subject to an administrative penalty for overstaying.

A visitor visa staying for no more than 14 days may be issued if necessary, to permanent residents of Hong Kong or Macao born in Hong Kong or Macao and holding either:

• A Hong Kong permanent resident ID and a passport issued by Hong Kong; or
• A Macao permanent resident ID and a passport issued by Macao; or
• A British National (Overseas) passport.

Permanent residents of Hong Kong or Macao who are not born in Hong Kong or Macao but hold the documents mentioned above can only obtain a 14-day entry permit at TPE and KHH airports if they have visited Chinese Taipei before. They have proof of such a visit(s).

The stay period begins and may not be extended from the first day after arrival.

• Fee: TWD 200; please note that at RMQ airport, there is no currency exchange based on Taiwan travel requirements.

Visa Exemptions based on Taiwan visa policy

All Travelers must hold a visa except the following according to Taiwan visa policy:

1. Travelers with Chinese Taipei ordinary passports
2. Travelers with Chinese Taipei official or diplomatic passports
3. British passport travelers have endorsed ‘British Resident’ to remain for no more than 90 days if they only arrive at TPE, KHH, TTT, or TXG airports. It does not apply if they have an Emergency or Temporary Passport; they may obtain a visa upon arrival in that situation.
4. Citizens of the Republic of Ireland and Japan stay for 90 days, provided they arrive at TPE, KHH, TTT, or TXG Airports. It does not apply if they have an Emergency or Temporary Passport; they may obtain a visa upon arrival in that situation.
5. The US people can spend no longer than 30 days. However, this does not apply to Travelers with passports valid for less than six months or those with Emergency or Temporary Passports; in such cases, they may obtain a visa on arrival.
6. Travelers staying for no more than 30 days so long as they do not have Emergency or Temporary Passports that require them to obtain a visa on arrival and provided, they are:
   1. Citizens of the Commonwealth of Australia, Republic of Austria, Kingdom of Belgium, Canada, Republic of Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Kingdom of Denmark, Republic of Estonia, Finland, French Republic, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italian Republic, Republic of Korea, Latvia, Lichtenstein, and Lithuania.
   2. Citizens of Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Malaysia, Republic of Malta, Principality of Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.
   3. People of Germany; this exception, however, does not apply if they have a ‘Kinderausweis’;
   4. The Republic of India, the Republic of Indonesia, the Republic of the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam have never worked as ‘manual workers’ in Chinese Taipei; they have obtained an online registration through https://nas.immigration.gov.tw/nase/, and they.
   5. Are residents of a Schengen member country, Republic of Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, or the UK with a Permanent Resident Card;
   6. Are residents with a Permanent Resident or Resident Alien Card in the United States of America;
   7. Have a valid visa for a Schengen country, Republic of Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, United Kingdom, or the United States of America.
7. Travelers staying for no more than 90 days provided they:
   1. Have official or diplomatic passports as they are citizens of the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Paraguay, and St. Kitts-Nevis.
   2. As long as they are citizens of Belize, they have diplomatic, government, or service passports;
8. Travelers were staying for a period not exceeding 90 days if they have a business travel card issued by the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (ABTC) and if the card’s validity for travel to Taiwan and a valid passport are shown on the reverse side.
9. Travelers with an ‘Entry and Exit Permit’ with a pink or purple color issued by Chinese Taipei to citizens of the People’s Republic of China not residing in Chinese Taipei.
10. Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) travelers with the following remark: ‘This certificate holder may have several entries to Taiwan, and they must renew this certificate before expiry.’ If this certificate does not include this warning, an additional re-entry permit must be stamped on the passport.
11. Travelers with a return permit that has to take the form of a sticker attached to the passport

TWOV (Transit Without Visa) according to Taiwan visa policy

TWOV is permissible for:

1. Travelers continuing their trip to a third country by the same or connecting plane on the same day of their arrival on condition that they:
2. Have tickets and all documentation needed for their next trip with verified reservations;
3. Do not leave the transit area unless observed by an immigration officer. The carrier must accompany travelers arriving after midnight to the transit hotel. They must seek permission from the police office if travelers want to stay in the transit hall; the carrier should make such arrangements; and
4. The receiving carrier should list the Travelers’ names, flight numbers, and destination before their arrival. If the carrier sent the Travelers’ manifest by cable, the ‘TWOV’ code should be marked with the connecting flight number and destination. The connection is possible after a time interval of at least 60 minutes, and TWOV may not be allowed for connection less than 60 minutes.
5. Transit hotel is only available for Eva Airways (BR) and China Airlines (CI) Travelers.

Additional information for Taiwan visa policy:

1. Travelers are required to have confirmed onward or return tickets and all necessary documents for their next trip. Visa-exempted Travelers or those obtaining a landing visa on arrival must have no criminal record.
2. Travelers may extend their visit for another 90 days provided they have British passports endorsed ‘British Citizen.’
3. Travelers beyond the maximum permissible visit duration will be subject to a penalty and will be barred from entering Chinese Taipei for a minimum of one year.
4. Former Citizens of the People’s Republic of China, who have settled outside of the People’s Republic of China for more than four years and have adopted the nationality of the country they have settled, may enter Chinese Taipei per the visa requirements of the nationality they have obtained. They do, however, have papers proving their change of nationality.

Warnings:

The carrier may have to pay a fine of TWD 30,000 or be subject to the loss of landing rights for three days if travelers refuse to comply with immigration laws. Suppose such violations of immigration rules are repeated on more than three flights annually. In that case, the penalty will be doubled, or the carrier’s local representative will face serious problems based on the Taiwan visa policy.

CUSTOMS AND FOREIGN EXCHANGE

Import regulations based on Taiwan visa policy

As per Taiwan visa policy, travelers aged 20 years or older are allowed free import of:

1. One pound of tobacco, 25 cigars or two hundred cigarettes;
2. One glass, not more than one liter of alcoholic beverages;
3. Moderate quantities of perfume.
4. Goods imported for non-commercial purposes up to a value of TWD 20,000 or TWD 10,000 for travelers less than 20 years of age, given that the traveler’s last visit to Chinese Taipei was more than 30 days before the traveler’s visit

Prohibited goods include based on Taiwan visa policy:

1. Gambling objects, toy pistols, and narcotics;
2. Plants, fresh plant products, and fresh fruits;
3. Living animals except for cats and dogs (see the section on Pet Animals for more information);
4. Animal products except dried and treated marine products.
5. E-cigarettes.

Export regulations based on Taiwan visa policy

Travelers are allowed free export of gold ornaments up to 62.5 grams, silver ornaments up to 625 grams as per Taiwan visa policy.

Prohibited goods include:

Arms, explosives, and objects for military use, bullions or coins of gold and silver, and undeveloped films as per Taiwan visa policy

Pets

1. Cats and dogs may be imported only from CKS or Kaohsiung airports, where dogs and cats are imported from areas affected by rabies based on Taiwan travel requirements, they must be:
   1. Microchip-implanted and rabies vaccinated as follows:
      1. Primary vaccination: At the age of at least 90 days old; The time between the day of vaccination and the day of shipment must not be less than 180 days or more than one year; or
      2. Additional vaccination: the animal must be vaccinated no more than one year before shipment;
   2. Subject to blood testing performed at least 180 days and no more than two years before shipment by laboratories authorized by the Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine (BAPHIQ), the rabies antibody test must be at least 0.5U/ml.
   3. No clinical symptoms of rabies
   4. The animal was examined, followed by a veterinary certificate from the exporting country (in Chinese, or English, or bilingual) verifying the above conditions. The certificate must also provide details relating to the breed, sex, age, and microchip number.
   5. Certificate, visa, or ID card, accompanied by an import permit and copies of the reports mentioned above. The importer should apply after an import permit and reserve a place of quarantine at least 30 days before the shipment is carried out.
   6. When the animals arrive at the port of entry, the importer must apply to the animal quarantine authority the import permit, the original veterinary certificate, the bill of lading, or the customs declaration of the animal. The quarantine period is 21 days.
2. When cats and dogs are imported from rabies-free countries as per Taiwan travel requirements:
   1. They must be microchip inserted and vaccinated against rabies at least 90 days of age; the length between the day of vaccination and the day of the shipment should not be less than 30 days and not more than one year of age.
   2. The importer must have a veterinary certificate from the exporting country (in Chinese or English or bilingual).In particular, the absence of any clinical signs of rabies when the animal was examined. This animal was raised for a continuous duration of at least six months before shipment or from birth in the exporting country, and that no cases of rabies have been detected in the exporting country for two years. The certificate must also provide details relating to the breed, age, sex, and microchip number.
   3. The importer must apply for an import permit with copies of the records mentioned earlier, a certificate, and a passport or ID card at least 30 days before the shipment.
   4. When the animals arrive at the entry port, the importer must apply permit to the animal quarantine authority and the bill of lading, the original veterinary certificate, or the customs declaration of the animal.

If dogs and cats are exported to rabies-free countries from Chinese Taipei as per Taiwan travel requirements:

For fewer than six months, the importer is expected to provide additional documentation and be re-imported. It includes evidence that the animal has not been in a third country since its arrival, an export veterinary certificate issued by BAPHIQ, and, in the case of a dog, a pet identification ID.

In Transit: A transit permit must be obtained by the animal owner at least one week before shipment and must obtain a quarantine space for transit duration.

Baggage Clearance regulations according to Taiwan visa policy

A traveler’s luggage should be cleared at the airport of the first destination in Chinese Taipei.

Exemption: Transit Traveler’s Baggage Cleared at the final destination airport within or outside Chinese Taipei as long as the next flight is on the same day or arrives and departs within 24 hours on a China Airlines (CI) flight.

Airport tax according to Taiwan visa policy

On their departure from the airport, travelers cannot pay any airport fee based on the Taiwan visa policy.

Currency Import regulations based on Taiwan visa policy

Travelers can import local currency (New Chinese Taipei Dollar-TWD) up to TWD 60,000 and CNY Chinese currency up to 20,000.

Foreign currencies up to USD 10,000 or equivalent (Cheques, traveler’s cheques, and other transferable documents in foreign currency) are allowed. On arrival, higher quantities must be declared.
