Cyprus Visa Policy for a travelers

IMMIGRATION AND VISAS

Passport Requirements:

All Travelers except the following require a passport:

1. Travelers with a travel document for the people of Cyprus issued by the Government of Cyprus.
2. Travelers with a National Identity Card issued to Switzerland’s citizens and the member countries of the European Economic Area excluding Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Denmark, and Great Britain. A photo of the holder must be included in the card and must clearly state that the holder is a citizen of the country which issued the ID.
3. Laissez-Passer travelers issued by the United Nations.
4. Travelers with documents issued to refugees and people without nationality or citizenship.
5. ‘Kinderausweis’ passengers, a German identification document, was given to children aged 15 or younger.
6. Travelers with travel documents issued by the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo to Kosovo’s permanent inhabitants.

Document Validity:

Passports and alternative papers, or either of them, must be valid for three months following the period of the intended visit.

1. Citizens of Cyprus may enter with a passport or any alternative document valid on arrival.
2. Citizens of the EEA countries and Switzerland can enter with a passport or with any alternative document valid upon arrival.
3. Travel documents that are valid on arrival can be entered by residents of Cyprus.

Additional information about Cyprus Visa Policy

1. Students, apart from their nationality, residing in an EU country, Liechtenstein or Switzerland, and traveling as part of a school group from within the European Union, Liechtenstein or Switzerland, do not need a passport on the below-mentioned condition:
   • Their names are stated on a List of Travelers stamped by the school and certified by the proper authority in charge in their home country;
   • One of the teachers at that school accompanies the school trip;
   • This ‘List of Travelers’ must contain a photo of the pupil.

Not all European Union member countries issue this type of ‘List of Travelers’. In addition, the exemption would NOT extend to the list of travelers that is only stamped without photographs by the school. There is no approval of Yugoslav passports carrying a renewal stamp with the word ‘Macedonia.’ Entry is not granted to Travelers with passports endorsed by the Turkish Republic of Cyprus.

Cyprus Visa Policy  for Minors

• Passports are required by children unless they are traveling in their parents’ company, provided the child’s name is registered in the parent’s passport.
• If traveling alone or in the company of an official guardian, children must have their passports.

Issuance of Visa:

1. If a visa is required, it can be obtained from the British High Commissions or Embassies in: Hong Kong, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Argentina, Bahrain, Norway, Switzerland, Sudan, Oman, Uzbekistan, and the UAE.

2. In all other situations, travelers are kindly requested to contact the nearest Cyprus representative before arrival.

Visa Exemptions

1. All Travelers must hold a visa except the following:
2. Citizens of Cyprus.
3. Travelers with passports stating Resident Status Cyprus, Native of Cyprus, or Immigrant.
4. Citizens of Schengen countries.
5. Travelers with British passports endorsed British Citizen.
6. Travelers stay for no more than 90 days, so long as they are from countries with a visa regime agreement with Belgium. To know, you are eligible for visa exemption, use the Click2visas widget.
7. Travelers coming for tourism and staying for no more than 90 days provided they have British passports endorsed:
   • British National (Overseas);
   • Citizen of the British Overseas Territories containing the mark ‘right of residence’ issued by Great Britain and bearing the residence stamp of the United Kingdom; or
   • British Matter, which includes the ‘right of residence’ mark issued by Great Britain and bearing the stamp of residence of the United Kingdom, or British Overseas Territories citizen status issued to residents of Gibraltar.
8. Travelers with passports issued by Hong Kong or Macao stay for 90 days and come for tourism.
9. Travelers with official, consular, diplomatic, or service passports provided they are citizens of Armenia, China, Cuba, Egypt, Iran, Moldova, Russia, Seychelles, and Ukraine.
10. Travelers with diplomatic passports provided they are Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia.
11. Travelers with official or diplomatic passports, provided they are India’s citizens, staying for no more than 90 days.
12. Travelers with diplomatic or service passports provided they are citizens of Colombia.
13. Travelers with diplomatic, service, or special passports provided they are citizens of Syria.
14. Travelers with a re-entry permit or a residence permit issued by Cyprus.
15. Travelers with a valid Schengen Type C Visa whether single, double, or multiple, provided the traveler formerly entered the Schengen territory. In case of a single entry visa, the traveler must directly travel from a Schengen member country to Cyprus. The maximum period of the visit is equal to the validity period of the visa.
16. Travelers are staying for no more than 90 days provided they are spouses and dependents of citizens of the European Economic Area and Switzerland residing in a European Economic Area member country or Switzerland and holding a family member residence permit issued by a European Economic Area member country or Switzerland, clearly indicating the relationship.
17. Suppose the residence permit does not clearly state the relationship. In that case, it is required to provide proof of the relationship such as a marriage certificate along with a copy of the passport of the citizen of the European Economic Area member country or Switzerland.
18. The maximum duration of five days, irrespective of nationality, for travelers traveling through Cyprus and continuing their journey to a third country, provided that they have a valid residency permit issued by the Schengen or Liechtenstein Member States; a Schengen Form B, C, or D visa; or a national visa issued by Bulgaria and Romania.
19. Laissez-Passer travelers issued by the United Nations.
20. Travelers stay for no more than 90 days, provided they are refugees and people without nationality or citizenship with a travel document and a residence permit issued by a European Economic Area member country or by Switzerland.

TWOV (Transit without Visa)

TWOV is allowed for travelers to begin their journey within 24 hours to a third country on the same or first connecting aircraft and not to leave the airport until they have confirmed tickets and other required documentation for their next flight:

1. This does not apply to citizens of the following countries, who must get a transit visa before arrival: the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Congo, State of Eritrea, Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Republic of Ghana, Nigeria, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Somalia, Sri Lanka;
2. This does not refer to residents of Iran with papers other than diplomatic passports, official passports, or service passports.;
3. This does not apply to citizens of Iraq. However, if such Travelers have a German asylum certificate or a German residence permit issued in terms of asylum, a transit visa is not required. Exemptions include Travelers with a permanent residence permit issued by Andorra, Canada, Republic of Ireland, Japan, Lichtenstein, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, United States of America, or the United Kingdom.

Additional information

Travelers must have:

• Onward or return tickets;
• Entry documents necessary for their next trip; and
• Enough money for expenses during stay in Cyprus.
• A hotel reservation is also recommended.

Exemptions:

1. Citizens of the European Economic Area and Switzerland; and travelers with diplomatic and official passports.
2. A valid visa in an expired passport is accepted, provided Travelers have a valid passport with the same nationality.
3. Students, apart from their nationality, residing in an EU, Liechtenstein or Switzerland, and traveling as part of a school group from within the EU, Liechtenstein or Switzerland do not need a visa on condition that their names are stated on a List of Travelers stamped by the school and that the school group is accompanied by one of the teachers at that school;

Additional information

• When the List of Travelers is only stamped by the school and is neither authenticated by the appropriate authority in charge nor containing photos of the students, each student must carry his/her travel document and proof of place of residence.
• Visa exemption does not apply to the teacher accompanying the group if the teacher belongs to a country that requires a visa.

4. On a separate piece of paper, an authorized visa can be given to citizens of Russia traveling from Russia.

5. Citizens exempted from visas can extend their visit for unlimited periods beyond 90 days on condition that they enter for tourist purposes and have sufficient money to cover their expenses. Applications must be sent to the Ministry of the Interior’s Migration Officer. This facility does not apply to Travelers with passports issued by Hong Kong or by Macao.

Information to know:

Travelers who do not respect entry or transit regulations will be deported, and the transporting carrier will have to pay a fine of EUR 2,947.34 per each individual.

CUSTOMS AND FOREIGN EXCHANGE

Import regulations

1. Travelers arriving with goods bought within the European Union for personal use only are allowed free import of:
   • 800 cigarettes; 400 cigarillos each weighing no more than three grams; 200 cigars; one kilogram of smoking tobacco;
   • Ten liters of more than 22 percent of alcoholic beverages; 20 liters of less than 22 percent of alcoholic beverages; 90 liters of wine but no more than 60 liters of sparkling wine; 110 liters of beer.
2. Travelers arriving from non-European Union countries, including the Canary Islands, Channel Islands, and other similar regions, are allowed free import of:
   • Travelers aged 17 years old and more are allowed 200 cigarettes; 100 cigarillos each weighing no more than three grams; 50 cigars; 250 grams of smoking tobacco; or a proportional mixture of these products;
   • Travelers aged 17 years and older are permitted to drink one liter of alcoholic beverages in excess of 22 percent volume; undenatured ethyl alcohol in excess of 80 percent volume; two liters of alcoholic beverages or aperitifs made from wine or related beverages in excess of 22 percent volume; sparkling wines or liqueur wines; or a proportional mixture of these products in addition to four liters of still wine; and 16 liters of still wine;
3. Medicines for personal use only;
4. Air Travelers are allowed other goods up to a total value of EUR 430 per adult individual or EUR 150 per individuals aged less than 15 years.

Prohibited Goods

Imports of weapons and ammunition from the Russian Federation and Syria are not approved.

Export regulations:

Travelers are allowed to free export of moderate amounts of tobacco products, alcoholic drinks, and souvenirs up to a value of CYP 100.

Crew Members customs regulations:

Fifty grams of tobacco articles for each day’s intended to visit on condition that the whole quantity does not exceed 250 grams.

Pets:

• Only via Larnaca (LCA) and Paphos (PFO) is it allowed to import dogs. Owners of pets imported from outside the European Union must inform the Port of Entry District Veterinary Office of their arrival and provide full information, including the date, time, and flight number, at least 48 hours before arrival.
• Regulation (EC) No. 998/2003 and Regulation (EU) 576/2013 shall refer to cats, dogs, and ferrets. If applied before 3 July 2011 or by a compatible transponder or microchip, cats, dogs and ferrets must be uniquely marked by a clearly readable tattoo. They must also be older than 105 days and, irrespective of the country of origin must be vaccinated against rabies. The import cap is set to a max. 5 animals per passenger.
• In order to prove their origin, cats, dogs, and ferrets coming from the other EU Member States must be accompanied by paperwork and, if more than five pets are transported, the approved veterinarian must check the health of the pets within 48 hours of their departure.
• A health certificate must accompany cats, dogs, and ferrets coming from third countries and comply with all the criteria set out in the health certificate. A document stating that animals are being transported for non-commercial use must also be included in the health certificate.

Prohibited breeds of Dogs:

American Pit Bull Terrier or Pit Bull Terrier, Dogo Argentino or Argentinian Mastiff, Fila Brasileiro or Brazilian Mastiff, Japanese Tosa, or Tosa Inu.

There must be birds followed by:

• an import license is given by the Department of the Veterinary Services prior to arrival; and
• a health certificate issued by the veterinary officer of the exporting country’s government.

Baggage Clearance regulations:

A traveler’s luggage should be cleared at the final destination airport in Belgium.

Exemptions: Luggage of transit travelers whose destination is outside Belgium if the onward flight is within 24 hours.

Airport tax:

On their departure from the airport, travelers are not entitled to pay any airport fees.

Currency Import regulations:

For currency imports, the same rules apply as for currency exports.

Currency Export regulations:

1. There are no restrictions on exporting local currency (Euro-EUR) and foreign currencies if travelers are traveling to another European Union country.
2. Sums in excess of EUR 10,000 or their equivalent in another currency, including any banker’s draught and cheques, must be declared if travelers come from or fly to a country outside the European Union.
