Foreign nationals wishing to visit Peru and requiring a visa can apply for a Tourist visa, Business visa, Transit visa, and Work permit visa.

Business Visa: Anyone who travels to Peru for business purposes, particularly when business contracts or agreements are signed or financial transactions related to the business are made, must apply for a business visa before entering the country at a Peruvian Consulate. For business meetings and discussions only, while traveling for this purpose, no remunerated activities can be carried out.

Tourist Visa: Tourist visa if they have family and friends visiting, leisure purposes, or similar. No company or job operation is allowed.

Transit Visa: To link air travel through a country not being a final destination.

Work Permit Visa: For paid employment in the countries of destination.

What do I need Peru visa?

What is a Peru visa valid? 

The tourist visa for Peru is a single-entry visa and is issued for a maximum duration of 183 days. The Peruvian business visa, at the same time, is a multiple-entry visa and entitles the holder to enter Peru within 12 months from the date of issue. The average stay on a Business visa is 183 days a year, but for shorter stays, the consulates abroad reserve the right to issue visas.

May I extend the Visa to Peru? 

When you reach Peru, it is not possible to extend your tourist visa! Make sure you get a visa when you arrive at the airport or the border for the time you intend to stay. The permissible time for a visitor to stay in the country is 183 days per year, according to Peruvian law. 

What else does a Peruvian visa need for the applicant to fly to Peru?

Short term visa requirements:

  • Passport: 

You must have the actual passport you have signed, plus one copy of the personal information page for your passport. Your passport is to: 

1. On accession, be valid for at least six months

2. Provide at least one blank visa page (endorsement and amendments pages cannot be used to fulfill this requirement)

3. Do not be splintered, torn, separated or otherwise altered

  • Photographs:

Two-color, passport-type photographs must be provided that meet the following criteria: 

1. Be taken in the last three months and printed on top-quality photographic paper

2. Take on an all-white background

3. Be two by two inches

4. Provide your head’s full front view in the middle and present a neutral (non-smiling) expression

5. Except for religious reasons, you can wear no eyeglasses or headwear

6. Your photographs should not be appended to your application and may not display adhesive tape or staples

  • A Cover letter that the applicant duly signed.
  • Booking of the round-trip ticket to Peru. 
  • Hotel booking(s) made in Peru.

Additional Requirements for Business purposes:

  • An apostilled letter of invitation from the Peruvian business associate to be sent directly to the Embassy in English or Spanish. 
  • A letter from the company in which the individual is working, with reference to the applicant’s company profile and intention of travel.
  • Evidence of company registration. 
  • Applicant’s Personal Bank Statement (3 months latest). 
  • The applicant’s most recent one-year income tax certificate. 
  • Slips in salary for the last six months.    

Additional Requirements for Tourist purposes:

  • Form 16 (1 year) Individual Income Tax Return (ITR), where applicable.
  • Complete itinerary day by day while in Peru.
  • Proof of fund, e.g., Fixed deposits, bank statements, proof of financial solvency. Those are required even if funded for the ride.

Do I need to send you my passport to obtain a visa to Peru? Is a passport safe to send?

You have to submit the original passport, not a copy of it. The Peru visa is stamped on your passport page. You cannot process your original applications for a passport visa without them. It’s highly advised to submit your application to the embassy because of the value of your passport.
