Guidelines for Air Canada Baggage fees:

Carry on allowances for Air Canada:

One personal item is free, and 1 Standard carryon bag is free of cost. The restrictions on sizes are 7*13*6 inches (43*33*16 cm) for personal and 21.5*15.5*9 inches (55*40*23cm) for Standard.

Lap Infant Carry on Policy:

On your lap, if there is an infant while traveling, you can have one additional standard article for your child belonging.

Stroller Check Policy:

A large stroller will be checked at the baggage counter, and at the baggage counter or boarding gate, small strollers will be checked. The size of the Stroller should not exceed 10 inches (25.5 cm) in collapsed diameter and not exceed 36 inches (92 cm ) in length. Small strollers will be available for pick up at the destination baggage hall after checked at the baggage counter.

Baggage and Standard fees:

The fee for one bag is 30 CAD/USD per direction. 

 For flex and comfort fares, the first bag is free, and the second bag is 50 CAD /USD per direction.

Mode of Paying the Baggage Fees:

When you check-in for your flight, you can pay any applicable baggage fees online, on your mobile device. Air Canada Check-in Counter, you can pre-pay for baggage through an online or mobile app 24 hours before the flight departure. Air Canada will return the fees in the event of unexpected situations like loss/damage/delay of your package.

Note: For baggage, fees charged as per local currency in which the transaction occurs are conducted outside Canada.

In some Airports cash payment will not be accepted:

Kindly check that at which airport payment through cash is not accepted. The cash payments are not accepted at Air Canada airport counters in the United States and in the following cities: Calgary, Edmonton, Fort McMurray(YMM), Edmonton(YEG), St. John’s(YYT), Toronto Island(YTZ), Fort McMurray(YMM), Halifax(YHZ), Montréal(YUL), Ottawa (YOW), Halifax(YHZ), Montreal(YUL), Toronto Pearson(YYZ), Vancouver(YVR), Victoria (YYJ), Winnipeg(YWG), Quebec City (YQB), Saskatoon(YXE). 

Customers can pay through any major Credit or Debit Card as an option of paying tickets as well as for Baggage and Other fees.

Additional Bags and Overweight/Oversized Items:

In number, size, and/or weight allowed by your fare type, if your bags exceed the permitted allowance, additional checked baggage charges will be applicable. Kindly arrive at the airport at least 120 minutes before departure (if checking extra bags or overweighed bags and oversized pieces). If you are traveling with the exceeded bags, you need to contact Air Canada Cargo Support team.

The maximum weight and size of the Overweight and Oversized items are 32 Kg (70 lb) in weight, 292 cm (115 in) in linear dimensions, and 203 cm (80 in) in length.

If it is for oversize baggage, it will be charged at 100.00 CAD/USD. The Extra bags that range from 63 to 115 linear inches or from 160 to 292 cms will not be accepted.

Excess baggage fee details on Air Canada:

From Canada domestic to/from the Caribbean and the US 225.00 CAD/USD extra per bag will be applicable. From the other internationals to/from Canada will be CAD 225.00/USD extra per bag will be applicable.

Does Air Canada charge any fee for sports equipment?

Skis, fishing equipment, golf bags, hockey, and lacrosse equipment will be accepted to Air Canada’s size and weight limit; this equipment will be counted as one hold bag or one checked bag. The relevant fee will be applicable.

Allowances for Military Persons:

The Persons from the US and Canadian military will enjoy an enhanced baggage allowance when traveling on a flight operated by Air Canada Express, Air Canada Rouge, or Air Canada. The military persons currently in service and the retired members of the US and Canada are eligible up to three pieces of checked baggage, weighing up to 32 kg (70 lb) each. After the check-in has been completed, eligible customers must visit an airport agent to have their baggage fee waived when presenting a military identification. Kindly aware that the baggage allowance does not qualify for itineraries, including connecting flights with other airlines (including the star alliance member airlines). Standard allowance and Normal fees would be applied.
