Covid-19 Travel Restrictions in Portugal

The EU, Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland, and Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, China, Georgia, Japan, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, and Uruguay have opened their borders to Portugal.
Portugal has reopened its borders to travelers from the EU, Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland, Switzerland, Great Britain, Australia, Canada, China, Georgia, Japan, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, and Uruguay.
Travelers from regions other than those referred to above may enter or transit through Portugal only if they have an “important” purpose, such as professional, educational, family reunification, health, or humanitarian reasons. To explain the justification for business travel, business travelers should be prepared and may be asked for proof. Students must have an appropriate visa and/or be prepared to send proof of registration to a Portuguese institution of education. Third-country national holders of residence permits, or long-term resident visas issued by the EU Member States can transit through Portugal with a view to returning to their country of residence. A negative COVID-19 test result given in the last 72 hours must be provided by travelers entering Portugal from countries other than those mentioned above (except those transiting only through Portugal and not leaving the airport). They will also be subject to on-arrival health screening. Their temperature will be tested, and they will be referred to the health authority if it is high or they show symptoms.
Travelers arriving in Madeira must complete or apply a traveler questionnaire 12-48 hours before arriving in Porto Santo. Upon arrival, within 72 hours of their arrival, they would need to demonstrate evidence of a negative COVID-19 test or an on-arrival test and self-isolate at their accommodation while awaiting the results. Travelers arriving in the Azores are expected to show evidence of a negative COVID-19 test performed 72 hours before departure or to take the test on arrival and await the results in voluntary quarantine within 48 hours.
