Covid-19 Travel Restrictions in Malta

A negative COVID-19 check conducted no more than 72 hours prior to their flight to Malta is expected to be used by the countries on the amber list upon arrival in Malta.

Flights to and from countries and territories have restarted in Malta. At least 2 weeks before their trip, travelers will have to provide proof of residency in one of the countries mentioned A paper copy of the two public health services questionnaire and a passenger locator form must be completed for all incoming passengers. These are available on the website of the Airport of Malta. Except when traveling from one of the countries on this list, foreign nationals who are not citizens of Malta will not be able to enter Malta.

Starting on August 21, the Maltese Authorities will launch an “Amber list” of countries from which a negative COVID-19 exam must be demonstrated to arriving travelers. The examination must be performed prior to arrival in Malta and must be no older than 72 hours prior to departure. This list will be updated by the government of Malta on a weekly basis and can be found here.

The list of countries needed for testing prior to arrival has been extended from midnight on 28 August. You can check the latest list on the website of the Maltese Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.

Arriving passengers who comply with the entry conditions, including proof of residency in the departing country for a period of at least 2 weeks, shall not be allowed to be self-isolated. For 14 days, those who do not fulfill the requirements will still be forced to self-isolate.
