By means of repatriation flights arranged by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, certain categories of Indian nationals and residents may enter the country.
Airfreight flights carrying items for exchange or necessary goods and services, and their crew members, aides, cleaners, etc., are other exceptions. If an Indian is one of the parents or an OCI cardholder, travelers with an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card or booklet are entitled to enter the country, as are their younger children and spouses or students attending an Indian institution. Travelers can travel from a neighboring country via India if they travel to their country of residence through India.
New guidelines have been released by the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs, authorizing those groups of foreign nationals to fly on business to India. It will, however, require them to obtain a new business or job visa first. For information and procedure categories, visit the website of the Indian Bureau of Immigration.
All international passengers must visit the website of New Delhi Airport from 8 August onwards and send a self-declaration form at least 72 hours before departure for India.
On arrival, all travelers will undergo a thermal screening and are expected to undergo a compulsory 14-day quarantine upon arrival in India. They will be asked to provide contact details and ask for the Arogya Setu app to be downloaded. Visitors may qualify for an exception from quarantine; to do so, they will need to qualify using the self-reporting form and attach a negative PCR screening test.
