All travelers who are not citizens of the EEA Member States, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, the Vatican City, or the United Kingdom, or their spouses, have been barred from entering Iceland. It is still possible for travelers with residency permits provided by the Schengen Member States to enter the country. Diplomats, health professionals, humanitarian relief workers, military personnel, travelers in need of international security, and family emergency travelers are also permitted to enter the country. All travelers entering Iceland on their path to another Schengen Member State are expected to provide written confirmation of their authorization to access the other Schengen Member State.
As of 19 August, all passengers arriving in Iceland can choose either to be checked for COVID-19 twice (test fee is ISK 11,000 or ISK 9,000 if booked in advance, and free of charge for the second test) or be self-isolated for 14 days upon the arrival. Both testing and self-isolation would be excluded for children born in 2005 or later. Icelandic residents and travelers intending to stay 10 days or more must take special care on arrival for the first 5 days and must be checked for a second time, four or five days after arrival, even though they have already been tested negative on arrival. From 19 August onwards, all persons traveling to Iceland who wish to take a test instead of a 14-day quarantine must be screened four to five days after arrival for a second time and must obey a quarantine measure before the outcome of the second test is known.
Travelers will also be required before departure to fill out a pre-registration form. Further specifics and the form can be found at www.covid.is
