On 16 July, the government of Senegal declared new restrictions affecting foreign nationals’ entry into Senegal. Foreign nationals may now be prohibited from entering Senegal unless they are citizens of or comply with certain other exemptions from Senegal or a country that is a member of the Economic Community of West African States. The Government of Senegal has declared that airlines are not authorized to carry foreign nationals from countries that have advised against traveling to Senegal unless they are usually citizens of Senegal, ambassadors, military personnel, health professionals, and other special categories of professionals. They also stated that they would not allow nationals from countries with restrictions on travel from Senegal to enter. The government has not yet defined which countries fall into these groups to be considered. For more information, consult the Senegal Tourism Ministry.

All visitors must have a medical certificate with a negative PCR test result for COVID-19, given no longer than 7 days before arrival, to enter Senegal. At their own expense, travelers without a medical credential would be subject to medical screening. Present test fees are 40,000 FCFA per passenger, payable in cash at the time of the test. On arrival in Senegal, travelers must also complete and submit a ‘Public Health Passenger Locator’ form. The form is available on Dakar Airport’s website.
