The tourism map of Europe is expanding by the day, and many UK nationals and residents from the UK visit the continent regularly for tourism-related activities. Kindly note that along with UK citizens, 62 countries national other than the EU do not need to a visa to enter the EU Schengen Zone
However, several terrorisms and migration concerns have gripped the European Union in recent days, compelling EU nations to adopt a better tourism management strategy. The European Union recently stated unequivocally that one of its primary goals is to provide travelers who enter the Schengen zone EU borders with a safe travel experience.
To manage tourism-related activities more efficiently and effectively while also addressing security concerns, the EU devised the ETIAS visa for UK nationals and others.
ETIAS – European Travel Information and Authorisation System:
ETIAS/European Travel Information and Authorisation Systemis an electronic travel system that manages the data of all visa-free visitors who enter the European Union’s borders. The ETIAS visa application process is very similar to the ‘Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA),’ which has been in operation in the United States since its inception in 2007.
ETIAS, like ESTA, is an electronic system used to determine the eligibility of visitors to enter the EU. Additional checks ensure that the UK and foreign national’s entry into the EU will not pose a security risk.
ETIAS Application fee for Britons:
UK travelers must pay an application fee to obtain their ETIAS visa waiver. The ETIAS application fee is very low, and it will help European authorities cover the costs of digitizing, implementing, and maintaining the ETIAS travel authorization system.
Although ETIAS has not yet been fully implemented (the program is expected to be implemented in late 2022 and will be mandatory for UK citizens in 2023).
The preliminary ETIAS cost for Britons and other residents in the UK will be € 7. This fee is subject to change and may be increased or decreased once the details of the ETIAS program are finalized.
You will only need to pay the fee once, regardless of how many countries you intend to visit, as long as you complete the application correctly. You will be able to move freely within the Schengen area with your ETIAS authorization, and no need to apply or pay again.
The ETIAS program aims to simplify and facilitate movement to and within the EU, making life easier and smoother for international travelers and EU authorities. That is also why the ETIAS online application is expected to be completed in a concise period.
You must complete the application form correctly. False or incorrect information may cause your application to be rejected, forcing you to restart your application and make additional payments.
Is there any other fee that Britons have to pay?
Travelers applying for similar travel authorizations frequently choose to use the services of specialized online immigration agencies like Click2visas that charge service fees to avoid issues and delays.
Click2visas service fee is ten times lower when compared to other agencies.
In exchange for a service fee, Click2visas provides professional assistance in submitting your application from start to finish and guarantees an error-free application that they will submit to EU authorities on the applicant’s behalf.
The Click2visas will monitor your progress to ensure that no information is missing, incorrect, or misleading. If something does not appear correct, the agency will contact you before submitting your application.
Because EU authorities will not contact you before denying or delaying your application, This is one of the most effective methods for keeping everything under control and prevent potential problems disrupting your travel plans.
The payment of an application fee and a service fee, and the receipt of an ETIAS visa waiver do not guarantee entry into the Schengen area. After reviewing your documents, European border authorities will make the final decision.
Should children need to pay for the ETIAS visa fee?
If minor wishes to visit the EU, the legal guardian must apply for an ETIAS visa.According to current information, the application fee for ETIAS will most likely be €7 per application. Britons under 18 do not have to pay any fees and can apply for this electronic authorization for free.

If a family member of a European Union citizen plans to visit, they must provide various details such as residence card, proof of relationship, and other background information.
To obtain ETIAS, you must also submit a scanned copy of your passport.

Travelers from the United Kingdom under 18 and over 70 are exempt from paying the ETIAS fee.
Please note that all Britons need to apply for ETIAS travel wavier to enter Schengen countries, and the fee is 7 EURO. Above mentioned travelers also need to apply for ETIAS, but they don’t have to pay the fee.
Britons and all travelers under 18 and over 70 from ETIAS-eligible countries are exempt from the ETIAS fee.
How long does it take to process an ETIAS visa?
If you filled out the application correctly and authorities believe you are eligible to enter the Schengen zone in the EU, ETIAS will be approved within a few minutes.
However, there will be occasions when you receive a hit from the ETIAS, and the application will be manually processed during these times. If your application is being processed manually, it could take up to 96 hours to receive a green signal. This time frame can occasionally be extended to two weeks.
What should I do if the authorities reject my ETIAS application?
If your application is denied, authorities will notify you of the reason for the rejection. If you are unhappy with the reason for the denial, you have the option to appeal the decision. You can also make changes to the application and resubmit it.
Can I get both a Schengen visa and an ETIAS visa?
No, you cannot; obtaining a Schengen visa indicates that you are not one of the 62 countries that does not require a visa to enter the EU. ETIAS is available to citizens of these 62 countries.
What visa do I need if I am not a national of one of the countries listed in the visa-waiver program but need to transit through a Schengen airport?
When passing through an airport in the Schengen area, you have three options. Please see the list below to see which options apply to you.
If you are arriving from a third foreign country and transiting through a Schengen Area airport on your way to another Schengen Area airport. In this case, you technically pass through border police control; however, you must have a Schengen Area entry short-stay visa.
If you are arriving from a third foreign country and transiting through an airport in one of the Member States on your way to an airport outside the Schengen Area without leaving the airport’s International Zone. In this particular instance, you do not enter the Schengen Area. So you need not have a transit visa but certain nationalities, however, require a short-term visa even for transit purposes; for more information, please see Airport transit visa (ATV)
If you are arriving from a third foreign country and transiting through a Schengen Area airport to travel to an international or domestic airport outside the Schengen Area. You need to exit the International Zone of the Schengen Area airport. In this particular case, you enter the Schengen Area, and unless you are exempt from the need for a short-stay visa, you must apply for one to transit through that airport.
