Are you in London? Do you have to plan to visit Ireland? Confused as to whether or not you required ETIAS Ireland?

Here's What No One Tells You About ETIAS Ireland.

ETIAS will be implementing by the end of 2022. Citizens of above than 60 countries will need ETIAS to enter the Schengen area.

Those who wish to travel to Ireland in the future may have questions about the need for an ETIAS to visit Ireland. Is Ireland part of the Schengen area? Are these member states of the European Union? Is Ireland not a part of Britain?

ETIAS visa can be used to visit any of the 26 Schengen areas, but it is a member of the European Union.

It should be marked that there is a difference between Ireland and Northern Ireland. The latter is only part of the UK, and as a result, many issues related to the border between Ireland and the UK arose during the Brexit talks.

Will I need an ETIAS visa to visit Ireland or not?

The answer is simple No ETIAS and No Visa.”

There is no direct answer; you do not need an ETIAS visa waiver to travel to Ireland. ETIAS travel authorization only permits Schengen member countries. This does not include Ireland.

However, non-EU citizens wishing to take advantage of their travel and travel to other European countries such as Italy, Spain, or France must obtain an ETIAS permit.

Citizens of more than 60 countries will be eligible for the ETIAS visa waiver when it is released in 2022.

Travelers to Ireland must verify entry requirements based on their nationality. Any Other permits may be required to visit Northern Ireland or any country in the United Kingdom.

First, you should know the difference between Ireland and Northern Ireland:

The official name of Ireland is the Republic of Ireland and is not part of the United Kingdom. However, although Ireland is not a member of the Schengen area, it is a member of the European Union.

Northern Ireland is part of Britain, officially the UK of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Other countries that include the UK are England, Scotland, and Wales.

Even if the UK does not vote to leave the EU, ETIAS will not be valid to go to the UK because the UK has not signed the Schengen Agreement. ETIAS is only for travel to the Schengen area.

In short, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland are separate countries. While Ireland will be part of the European Union, Northern Ireland will continue to be part of the United Kingdom.

Schengen visa and ETIAS visa:

Schengen’s Agreement was designed to provide uniform boundary rules for all its member states. The Schengen visa, for example, allows its owners to stay in the area for 90 days. That is, a Schengen visa can be used to travel to 26 signatory countries for a stay of upto 90 (Ninety) days within a 180 (One- Eighty)day period.

ETIAS is not an alternative to the Schengen visas. ETIAS Ireland is a visa waiver for citizens of countries that are currently exempt from visa requirements for the Schengen area.

Is Ireland part of the Schengen area or the E.U.?

The Republic of Ireland, also known as Ireland, is not part of the Schengen area, but it is part of the E.U. In fact, the Republic of Ireland is one of the few countries in the European Union but does not join Schengen. This is a bit confusing for many, including many Europeans.

The Schengen Agreement is designed to provide uniform border rules for all countries in the region. Once you are admitted into 1 Schengen country, you can move to any of the others as long as you don’t exceed the maximum stay of 90 days in the whole zone.

The main reason that some countries did not or haven’t yet joined Schengen is that they want to control the immigration status of non-EU citizens in their own way than the same rules as the rest of Europe.

Ireland and the SIS (SCHENGEN INFORMATION SYSTEM):

The European Union recently recognized Ireland’s connection with the Schengen information system. 15 March 2021, Ireland SIS II approaches Europe’s largest and most widely used IT security system.

Garda Siochana, the National Police Service of Ireland, will share information on missing persons and stolen or lost items and vehicles with 30 participating countries.

This is a major security boost as data can be used to identify dangerous individuals attempting to enter Ireland and locate people and objects elsewhere in Europe.

The Garda Siochana Pulse system and the Garda National Immigration Bureau database are integrated with SIS II to detect and prevent serious crimes. Ireland will be outside the Schengen general travel zone but will benefit from the increased protection and security of shared knowledge from 2021 onwards.
