Covid-19 Travel Restrictions in Sri Lanka

All foreign nationals, including locals, are officially barred from entering Sri Lanka, and Sri Lanka officially does not grant visas. Non-national residents who wish to return to Sri Lanka should seek advice from their nearest Sri Lankan High Commission.

Only some special types of flights are approved by Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB), including repatriation flights, emergency diversion flights, humanitarian relief flights, freighter operations, and technical landings. All arriving travelers must provide public health inspectors or other approved officials with completed Health Declaration Forms. At CMB, the maximum transit time required is 10 hours. Passengers must have an onward link that is verified.

At the location specified in the Health Declaration Form, airline crew must self-quarantine and have meals only through in-room dining before their next flight is carried out. Sri Lanka’s issued visas and ETAs have been invalidated. For all those traveling to Sri Lanka, a 14-day quarantine is mandatory, usually followed by 14 days of self-isolation at home. Those entering must undergo airport temperature checks. A PCR exam must now be taken by all entrants.
