Introduction

Turkey’s biggest airport is Istanbul Atatürk Airport (Turkish: Istanbul Atatürk Havalimanı). It is situated on the European side of the capital, roughly 24 km west of the capital center, and serves as Turkish Airlines’ main hub.

The airport is split into 2 separate units:

Terminal 1: Departures and arrivals at home, check-in counters, security control points, shops, etc.

Terminal 2: Departures and arrivals abroad, with immigration. This is where you can arrive on an international flight upon arrival in Turkey.

Within 5 minutes or so, you can walk from the domestic to international terminals. The International Terminal also provides easy access to the Metro Station near the escalator.

To enter the region, note that you need to have an eVisa.

What are the recommendations for a hassle-free arrival at the Turkish Airport?

Remember that your airline/cruise ship check-in agent will inquire before checking in to see your e-Visa for Turkey before departure. You will apply and collect your tourist visa from Click2visas within 24 hours. It is also advised that you take a hard copy with you as evidence of visa payment, as failure to demonstrate this will often result in your flight link is missing. As this means how long you will remain in the country, check the stamp on your passport.

It is not advisable to overstay in Turkey. You can get into a lot of trouble, paying fines and tension that is needless.

You may take a cab to the city center, use public transport, or arrange a pickup. There are ATMs within the terminal, so make sure to get Turkish Liras before leaving the airport.

IMPORTANT: Vaccination against yellow fever, hepatitis, and rabies is not required for visits to Turkey, but you are advised to call the doctor in time to get the proper vaccination and carry your vaccination document with you as evidence.
