Covid-19 Travel Restrictions in Jamaica

If evaluated as high-risk, all travelers arriving in Jamaica may be checked for COVID-19 and may be subject to the quarantine conditions of the group they fall under.

For foreign tourists, Jamaica has reopened its borders. Upon arrival, all travelers arriving in Jamaica are medically screened.

Jamaican nationals must have a travel authorization obtained at https:/jamcovid19.moh.gov.jm / immigration.html.jm / immigration.html before departure.

If assessed as high-risk due to displaying symptoms, proximity to persons who have tested positive, belonging to a high-risk category, or other risk factors, all travelers arriving in Jamaica may be tested for COVID-19. Visitors will be checked at the airport for signs.

The following quarantine conditions would apply to all travelers arriving in Jamaica:

Category 1: Jamaican and non-Jamaican nationals who are normally resident in Jamaica-may be subject to testing if found to be high-risk and are expected to stay at home in quarantine for 14 days from the date of entry into Jamaica. If the result is positive, they will, as determined by the health authorities, be segregated either at home or in a government hospital.

Category 2: Non-residents visiting Jamaica for tourism purposes and staying in permitted accommodation in a “resilient corridor” may be checked at an airport or designated facility and await the results in hotel rooms for travelers. If the testing is negative, they must remain inside the “resilient corridor” at their hotel/resort and confined to property under the “Stay in Resilient Corridor” measure. If the result was positive, they would be segregated, as determined by the health authorities, either at the hotel/resort or in a government hospital. Information on ‘resilient corridor’ accommodation can be found on the “Quarantine for Business Traveler” measure at their hotel/intended address. If the result is negative, they will be released from quarantine and will be subject to the measure ‘Stay at Intended Address for Business Travelers’ for a period of 14 days from the date of their entry into Jamaica or for a period of stay of fewer than 14 days. If the result were positive, they would be segregated, as determined by the health authorities, either at their hotel/intended address or in a government hospital.

Category 4: Non-residents visiting Jamaica for other reasons, including non-resident visitors staying in the ‘resilient corridor’ – Travelers who are not expected to take a pre-test may be expected to take a test at an airport or other designated facility if the health authorities feel that they are at high risk. At their hotel/intentioned address, they will then wait for their test results under quarantine. Travelers need to stay in quarantine at home for 14 days from the date of entry to Jamaica, whether they need to be screened or not. If it is appropriate for travelers to be screened, and the result is negative, they must stay at home in quarantine for 14 days from the date of entry into Jamaica. If the result is positive, travelers may, as determined by the health authorities, be segregated either at home or in a government hospital.
